A Christmas greeting with several layers...
We wanted to create a Christmas card that would do more than just look good on screen. That's why we combined several of our favorite techniques into one physical sample: printing on mirrored board with a metallic gold effect, details in varnish/DropGloss, and digital cutting of both the motif and the box.
Along the way, the Christmas idea became an opportunity to ask the question: What could you create with the same techniques? Maybe a new printer will be on your wish list. Maybe it starts with a course where you learn to get more out of the one you already have.

More than color on a surface
With UV printing on swissQprint, the material can become an active part of the design. White can control where the colors stand out, while varnish/DropGloss can add shine, contrast and a surface that is noticeable.
By working with prints in multiple layers, opportunities arise to highlight certain details and give a print sample its own expression.
What would it do to a display, packaging or product if both material and finish were considered from the beginning?
In the video on the right, you can see droptix varnish effects performed on a swissQprinter.

When the form becomes part of the idea
Digital cutting is about more than just finishing a print. The outline can emphasize the motif, and a box or display can be developed as part of the overall experience.
With an Elitron cutter we can cut printed items and work with different shapes and materials. The Seeker System registers the print and adjusts the cutting path so that the motif and cutout match.
The current sample shows one possibility. What new products or presentations could emerge if you thought of print and cut as one process?
Pyramid printing – when the motif changes with the angle
With pyramid printing at swissQprint you can create visual effects where colors and motifs change depending on the viewing angle.
The technique is based on precise printing of small pyramid structures in multiple layers, combined with different colors. It requires both an understanding of prepress, the construction of print files, and precision in the printing process itself.
Do you want to learn how to work with techniques like pyramid printing and create new effects on your products? At NIZE academy you can gain insight into the techniques and learn how to translate creative ideas into print.
